Does anyone know of a way within MMC to remotely detect the MAC
addresses of a server's clients? When managing DHCP reservations for
example does the MAC address of the client have to be typed in
manually by the network administrator, either from another source or
from the client user on the phone?

Hi!

You could ping IP number and then use arp -a command. It will display MAC
addresses.

Agreed but if a site had hundreds of clients the sysadmin would stil
be typing in all the macs to mmc.
I ran arp -a>arp.txt which produces a text file listing the arp
output, theres a start I suppose, but does it take a 3rd party app to
get that lot into a form useable by the mmc?
