I have a 2003 network in a 2 server network, 1 DC and 1 TS. We are
using AD, DHCP and DNS. Inside the network computers are able to
connect to the internet and access all files and folders with no
issues. When users leave the network and try and connect to the
internet from home or hotel room they are unable to connect to the
internet. They are able to connect to our TS server using remote
desktop connection and are able to connect to our network via VPN, but
can not connect to the internet. although once they connect to our
network they can access the internet, they login there laptops to
there domain account with no delay. My gut is telling me it is a DNS
issue, but I do not know how to resolve this. Thanks for the help and
let me know if any additional info is needed

Are they connecting to VPN? Dialup? The setting "use default gateway on
remote network" if checked and depending on your policies will prevent users
from getting to the internet. Have them connect at home or at hotel and try
to get to Internet without connecting to VPN first...

Just a guess, hope that helps/

They can connect to VPN from home and Hotel. I have tried to connect
to internet without VPN, and are unable to, that is the issue at hand I
can ping external IP's but I can not resolve them is the issue. This
is happening on multiple laptops, Even a brand new one out of the box
all I did was join it the domain and then tried to connect remotely
from my house, no internet. I am fairly sure it is a DNS issue maybe
having to do with the primary DNS suffix

Definately seems to be DNS related, are you using Windows SBS 2003? I have
seen issues when using the client with Small Business Server and ISA firewall
client outside the network.
Verify your DNS settings when connected to an external source that they are
not referring to your DNS server.
