I have a small office setup with a Win 2003 server (DC). Client
machines in the office need to print to a remote site's printer. I
setup the Win2k3 server with the remote printer using a TCP/IP port
assignment. The local client machines (WinXP, Win2K) use a local port
pointed to \\servername\printname
Printing works fine until the remote machine (Win98) is rebooted.
Then, the first job to print leaves a "Remote Downlevel Document" in
the printer queue with an error and the event log on the server 2k3
shows two identical entries (1 min apart) of:
Event Type: Information
Event Source: Print
Event Category: None
Event ID: 13
Date: 11/9/2004
Time: 11:21:59 AM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: SERVERNAME
Description:
Document 26, Remote Downlevel Document owned by username was deleted
on Printername Printer.
