Remote documents appear on printer

I have a small network using xp and 98. The xp has a HP
officejet d135 printer and one of the 98 machines has a
lexmark 3200 attached. The network works ok(ish) but for
no reason, although usually after you switch a pc on,
remote down level documents appear on the office jet fax
and printer. These will print continuosly churning out
gobbledegook symbols one line per page. The document is
always 49.5kb. I have tried removing and reinstalling
printers but nothing works.
