We recently have added traveling salespeople to our company,
I want them to have access to our database and to be able to run the main
application on our server...

Question is ...

How many remote desktops can log into a Windows Server 2003 or Windows
server 2008

Thanks in advance

Unless you are running Terminal services Licensing, and have bought a
number of Terminal Services Client licences, the answer is 2
concurrent connections - as that is all that is allowed in Terminal
Services Administrative mode.

Remote Desktop on a regular server is for administrators' use only.
Terminal Services is what you need (and you'll need CALs for it). You could
run it in a VM if you don't have spare hardware, but it's best to have it on
its own dedicated box.

What does your server do? If it's a domain controller, or has any other
critical roles on the network, don't attempt to turn it into a terminal
server. That's a bad idea on way too many levels to enumerate here.

Try posting in microsoft.public.windows.terminal_services for some expert
advice on this if you decide to go down that road.
