Remote Desktop

I am using Windows 98 and after I have created my Virtual
Private Network and downloaded the remote desktop I can't
connect to the remote desktop. I get an error message that
says the remote desktop has been disconnected and the
memory on my computer may be low. Does anyone know how to
fix this?
