Hi every body,

I have 2 2003 server that are very similar in there configuration and
licenses
On both, the remote desktop has been enable (control panel/system/remote)

from server 1, I can connect to server 2

but
from server 2, when I connect to server 1, the session is opened, the
desktop is displayed and immediatly, the session is closed

I try to connect to server 1 from different computer , not just server
and I get always the same result.

I try this even after a reboot of server 1.
I can see with the task manager that, excepted the console session, there is
no other session open on server 1
when I review the event log, I can see logon event, logoff event but no
error message

this is not an access right because in both case, I tested with a user that
have admin right, and I can browse with the explorer both computer fro each
other.
there is no active directory just the same workgroup, both user/password
are the same on both computer

many thanks for your help.

1) Has this occurred to the system? If not, continue reading below.
Unable to Log on if the Boot Partition Drive Letter Has Changed:

2) It's possible something replaced userinit.exe in the registry. Check
this key: HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/Current
Version/Winlogon/Userinit

Ensure that it points to where userinit.exe is located. It may in fact be
pointing to a non-existent file name. You can attempt a manual edit/fix or
visit a known good machine to compare and restore the above key.

3) Check this key:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management

Ensure that it points at the correct drive(s) for the pagefile.

4) If the user logging on does not have proper NTFS permissions to their
user profile, 'All Users Profile', or system files this behavior may occur.
Since you cannot logon to the system, map a drive to the problem system from
another computer to verify the permissions of the following folders:

System32
Documents and Settings\<Username>
Drive root where the pagefile is located

5) Re-apply the system default permissions if step 4 fails.

6) If all else fails perform a Repair Installation:

hi,
many tanks for your remarks but I still have problem.
I can logon locally on the computer using the account, I can use it without
problem excepted when I try to logon via remote desktop.
I try also to use administrator account but does not change
when the session is starting, I can see "applying .." and "saving ..."
messages.

I made the following test :
I try to connect to the console (mstsc /s:server /console) and find out the
session is opened.
seams that windows cannot open a second session
perhaps it is a problem with application located in systray ?
