Hi,

I have a problem using the remote desktop connection when I'm connected to
my wireless router.

I want to access a computer located at my office from my laptop at home. I
first establishing a VPN connection to the office. After, I use the Remote
Desktop connection to access my computer.

When my laptop is directly connected to the DSL modem, everything works
perfectly.

But if I try this when my laptop is connected to the wireless router (or
wired to it), I can establish the VPN, but the Remote Desktop connection
gives me a connection error.

I'm wondering if someone knows how I could solve this. I tried the port
forwarding, but I don't know if it`s the issue or if I've done it properly.

Thank you

GL

Did you open port 3389 and forwarded it to your laptop? That's the only port
that by default is Remote Desktop.

Yes, I tried by forwarding the port 3389 for TCP and for UDP to the IP of my
laptop in my network. I'm not sure if I have to do this if my laptop is only
used a remote desktop connection client (not host pc).

Thanks

You shouldn't have to open the port as a client but I was just wondering so
as to eliminate one possibility. I am not sure what could be your problem.
Try opening the VNC port also. I think it's 1723. Just for kicks. I don't
know what else would cause it because I am connecting by Remote Desktop as a
client and I am inside a wireless network with no open ports.
