Remote Desktop Connection

I recently built and configured a Windows Server 2003 Domain Member Server on
a Dell PowerEdge1650. For some reason, it will not accept Remote Desktop
Connections.

I checked this server against another Domain Member Server that we can
remote into. The only difference I can find is in the Services. This Server
seems to be missing the Remote Access Controller service.

Is this the reason we cannot remote into it? If so, how do we get this
service back?

Hi Tom,

A google shows that:

http://premiersupport.dell.com/suppo...072020&SvcTag=

It has nothing to do wtih Remote Desktop.

I would suggest that you make sure that Remote Desktop setting is set to
"Allow Users to connect remotely to this computer". You can find this
setting in Right click My Computer > properties > Remote tab.

If it doesn't work either, please let us know if you are using WIn2003 or
Win2003 SP1.

Jabez,

The Remote Desktop setting is set to "Allow Users to connect remotely to
this computer". In fact, it is checked and greyed out so that I can't change
it. This is exactly as it is on our other member servers that we can remote
into.

We are using Win2003 SP1.

Actually, the problem was in the DNS. This particular server was a rebuild
of another server recently taken off of the domain. The PTR and A Host
records in DNS were still reflecting the old server before the rebuild.

Remote Desktop Connection works now.
