Hi there,
Does anyone know what I need to do to be able to access
my machine using Remote Desktop when the target machine
is behind the MN-500 built in firewall ??
I used to just type in the IP of the machine before I set
up the unit. Now, the machine is assigned an internal IP
by the MN-500 and the MN-500 takes the IP from the ISP.

Thanks.

Forward port 3389 from the router to port 3389 of the computer you wish to
connect to.

Or, forward any port from the router to port 3389 of the computer you wish
to connect to and specify that port when you attempt to connect using the
remote desktop client.

(this assumes that you did not change the default listening port of remote
desktop from 3389)

Hi Jason, thanks for the quick reply. I'm not the most
computer savvy, I apologize. I have not changed any of
the defaults settings on the router. I'll give what you
suggest a whirl. Not clear on what you mean by specifying
port when I attempt to connect. What would the syntax be
when entering the address of the target computer??

Bryan.

<ip or hostname>:<port>
for example

if your ip is 24.112.162.1 and the port you want to connect to is port 3442,
then you enter..
24.112.162.1:3442
