I am using a new SBS 2003 installation with two NICs (mostly using the
default values), one for the local LAN and another for a PPPoE connection to
an ISP via an ADSL modem.
The XP Pro clients establish a VPN connection using the "Connection Manager"
(or a normal VPN connection).
I observe the follwong:
1. If I configure the client remotely (by installing the connection manager
from a Floppy), I manage to register the computer to the domain (i.e., by
using Network ID), but the next time I log on, I can only log to the local
doamin ("computerName") and not to the server's domain.
2. After I log on ("computer domain") and establish the connection,
everything works (Outlook, intranet, etc.,) and I can reach the server's
resources (shared files) by using Find (i.e. \\servername\sharedfile),
however, in "My Network Places" I can not see anything inside the doamin
icon (that appears after a long delay). The XP Pro client does not appear on
"My Network Places" of the server either.
Could you please help me with resolving the problem, and with instructing me
on how to install an XP Pro client remotely. (When I install on the local
LAN, using
http://servername/connectcomputer, everything seems to work)
I would appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Dan Kimhi
