When you set the homepath to point at a server, so MyDocuments and the
Desktop and Favorites go to a network drive, do TemporaryInternetFiles stay
on the local drive? What about ApplicationData?
What's the best method to change the homepath? Is a simple change to the
environment variable in the login script all it takes?
I deal with users who like to keep some personal files on their
workstations, and for some users that means several GB of mp3 files, so I
have set their MyDocuments to network drives but left the other things on
their local drive. (I am not going to tell them they can't have personal
files.) That way they can put personal stuff on the Desktop and work stuff
in MyDocuments. Alternatively I could create root folders on their local
drives and put a folder shortcut on the Desktop, and get the benefits of
having the whole homepath on the network. What do you think is best?
