Are you getting a 169.254.x.x address? If so, it wasn't assigned by a
DHCP server, so it can't be released. It indicates that your computer
was unable to contact a DHCP server to get an IP address. It's the
result of a network problem, not the cause of a network problem.
Check the network card, cable, hub or switch port, etc. Try manually
assigning the network card's speed and duplex mode, since automatic
speed and duplex sensing sometimes fails.
