Microsoft advert: What do you want to reinstall today?
Hint: The solution to all Windoze problems is not a reinstall.

Yep. Did you use the Dell (purple color) XP CD? You probably did
because you didn't slam into a serial number problem. These Dell CD's
come in various flavors (SP1, SP1.1, SP2), none of which are up to
date. Start updating at:
<http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com>
Plan on spending anywhere from 3 to 5 hours doing nothing but updates.

As for drivers, look on the bottom of the laptop for the "service
code". It will be 5-7 characters over a bar code. Go unto the
support page at Dell for your laptop, inscribe the service code, and
it will provide you with a nifty list of things to download, including
the wireless driver.

Ummmm... right.

>Can anybody give me some directions?

Yes, almost anyone can do that.

Did you reinstall all the drivers from the drivers disk? It should be a
blue and white disk. When you put it in it should come up with a list of
drivers for your model. You probably don't have sound or full video.

If you don't have the disk you will have to find them on the Dell web site,
You put in the service tag an if will give you a list of drivers for all
different devices that could be installed in your laptop. You should have
written them all down before you wiped it out.
