the other day after installing a webcam, my tcp/ip setting
got affected and norton started giving me errors about
being unable to check my mail accounts coz of incorrect
tcp/ip settings. since i have a windows me cd, i thought i
would remove the dial-up adapter and reinstall it and the
tcp/ip protocol. But after i removed it, when i checked in
the "add new harware" place i only found a TV video
adapter under microsoft and could not find any dial-up
adpaters to reinstall. i've checked in the networking
window also (under "configuration" and then "add", but it
wasnt there, only "client", "protocol" and "service" was
there)...please help. i cant log onto the net without the
drivers to reinstall the dial-up adapter.....

Use Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Windows Setup, highlight
Communications and click Details. You should find Dial-Up Networking at the
top of the list. It will quite possibly still be checked so you will first
need to uncheck the entry, the clicking OK and Apply before going back and
adding back Dial-Up Networking.
