has anyone subscribed to Comcast "high-speed internet"? i want to
know if there is a website to go to where account activation happens,
and what the url is. my sad story follows:
i recently had the Comcast (formerly AT+T Broadband) cable guy set up
my house for internet and called in my modem's MAC. then he handed me
an activation cd/book which is of course windows/mac only, and took
off.
the book shows screenshots of browsers, but the resolution is barely
good enough to read the url's, which i am certain contain the word
"attbi" in them in addition to "comcast". the cd has binaries and
other useless junk that queries among other things what my modem
drivers are (?!? who the hell needs that?!?) and how much RAM i have.
i have read:
http://www.astro.umd.edu/~teuben/linux/comcast.html and
links therein, but i'm still treading water. also, i have seen that
Comcast has one webpage with the word "Linux" on it
(
http://online.comcast.net/connect/) but it's a red herring - there's
only mac/windows info there.
with AT+T, there was a webpage you went to where account activation
stuff happened that took 5 minutes, and then your'e on. much of the
help on the net refers to DHCP stuff, but what i want to know if
anyone knows if there is a website to go to where account activation
happens, and what the url is.
