Hi all.
Thanks to Nick for helping me from my previous post. Something I did got my
internet up and running. Unfortunately after about an hour of surfing the
net on my linux box, the internet just went away. I tried restarting and
the shutdown just hung at the shutting down wlan0 part all night. Now I
cannot even configure my card.
Here are a few things I am currently getting:
ifup wlan0
error for wireless request "set encode" (8b2a):
set failed on device wlan0 ; function not implemented
error for wireless request "set essid" (8b1a)
set failed on device wlan0 ; function not implemented
Lsmod shows prism2_usb unused
p80211 [prism2_usb]
dmesg shows:
init_module

rism2-usb.0:0.2.0 loaded
init_module:dev_info is

rism2_usb
I am running a Microsoft Wireless Network. The MN-500 Base Station and the
MN-510 Wireless USB adapter. My main system is a XP pro box attached to the
base station. My second computer is a 2000pro/redhat 9 dual boot box with
the usb adapter. I am using Mediacom Cable internet.
What am I doing wrong? Even when the adapter seemed to be running properly
and I could ping the xp box and the router, i still had a heck of a time
getting internet running. I have spent more than a week (hours and hours
and hours) going through different newsgroups and web pages. I know I am
new to Linux but I am not all that new to networking. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. If you need any more info please let me know exactly
what you need.
Thanks
