Reconnecting Network?

Had comp in bedrom connected to my pc suing crossover cable without any
probs as such until i had to disconnect the 2nd comp to let another family
member borrow it.
Got comp back tried to reconnect as before but when trying to connect to net
i get the web site found awaiting reply message and it just hangs on
that.Sometimes can connect to the odd site without any probs e.g. google.
Any help would be appreciated

Can it actually access some web sites, or is it picking them up from the
cache on the local hard disc? Try accessing a site you've never been to,
or refresh the page.

If it sometimes works, check for viruses and spyware.

It accesses some site that ive never visited before,Think it's something to
do with the address settingof the two comps but cant remember what the
settings were
