Ok so this group seems full of Virginmedia is crap - which I also can
confirm!!! So what is the alternative? Who do you think are great? I am
wanting to swap out of VM but who?

I don't want to go back to BT - I was with them 6 years ago and their
servers kept loosing my emails and no one knew why - helpful.

I have been reading a lot of independant reveiws about O2 and Bethere (owned
by O2) which suggest the company is very good. Are there people here with
either provider who can confirm the rave reviews?

Ron

Apparently BeThere has been bought out (or is in the process of being) by
BT...

I think the confusion arose because you need a BT line before you can sign
up with them?

That seems very unlikely, as they are owned by Telefonica [telefonica.com].

Or the fact that before being hived off - and later sold off, O2 was part of
BT (remember Cellnet?)

As you may have seen there has been alot of gossip about the future of
Be as a brand, below you will find an statement from Dana (our MD) in
connection to this. I am sure you will find it interesting:

"Hi,

Following three exciting years taking Be from start-up to it's now
established position as the UK fastest broadband provider, I have
decided to pass on the Managing Director baton. I am proud to announce
Felix Geyr is the new Managing Director giving the leadership Be
deserves to thrive in it's next stage of life.

Be will continue as an independent ISP and brand to further our
broadband business as well as to pioneer new products and services for
new and existing Be members alike. This will include new broadband
technologies as well as other innovations that will create a digital
life worthy of the UK. Our upcoming launch of a home monitoring product
is just the first of such offers.

Following the purchase of Be by O2, O2 Broadband has successfully
launched with Be providing the foundation upon which their customer
centric offerings are based.

Felix joins the team from O2 where he is the Head of Business Strategy
leading the company's development in music, digital and non-telcoms
activities (including keeping a close eye on Be). With Felix in the
lead, Be will grow to fulfil its new vision, as the innovation brand of
O2 - so please join me in welcoming him.

As always, I thank you for your continued support of Be and making us
the community of choice for those that really care about broadband in
the UK."
-----------------------

So the good news is that yes Be is staying the way it is, the management
team and I have been working towards that goal for the last 12 months
and I am so happy that Be is staying.
