I am trying to install DSL on my IBM Aptiva 2171 Model 585 with Windows 98
First Edition. The DSL cd told me I needed a "NIC." I purchased and
installed a Belkin 10/100 Internet PCI card. When I started up my computer,
It noted that there was an RTL8129 card and attempted to install the
software. At one point it asked for my Windows 98 cd. I inserted that
Aptiva Product Recovery and Support CD that the old IBM Aptiva documentation
told me to insert. It could not find the file rtl8129.sys (I also had to
look for many files in my c drive prior to this point to satisfy the
installation requests. I am talking to Belkin support. However, even though
they insist that Windows 98 first edition is supported, I am not sure. Is
there any help out there for me?

It is an rtl8129 nic card, not rtl8128.
