i had a linksys wireless router with a separate adsl modem connected
to a laptop with xp and desktop with 2000. always had problems with
the 2000 machine so got a vigor 2600 all in one which is brill. not a
problem with either machine from day 1,also got another desktop with
xp and all 3 connect not a problem been like this for about 2 months.
last night i was cleaning up the old 2000 machine with adware 6 and
now i can get this to connect to the internet. i uninstalled the
adware but still no go. forgot to say the 2000 machine has the linksys
wireless wmp54g adapter. what could have changed when everything was
working all ok. i have checked all ip settings and nothing in that
department has changed. does anyone have any ideas.

I would say that was probably a mistake. Adaware has the facility to
restore deleted files. Or rather, it had until you uninstalled it. At a
guess I'd say that it's incorrectly deleted some system files and unless
you've got a way of "repairing" your Win2000 installation, you're probably
looking at a re-install.

Wiser folk than me may well be able to tell you how to do that.

Tim
