I've looked at the past message and did a google, and couldn't find what
I was looking for. I have a desktop (Suse 9.0) connected (wired) to a
linksys befw11s4 set up as a gateway, and a laptop (Suse 9.1) connected
wireless to the gateway. The gateway connects to my dsl, and assigns the
two machines (DHCP) an address.

What I want to do is be able to share certain directories between the
machines (The desktop has more storage room) and the printer on the
desktop. When the desktop was running win2k i ran samba and the laptop
could acces the shared drives and the printer connected to the desktop.
Now that both machines are linux I am having problems.Currently I can
ssh the other machine, but logged in as root on the remote machine. I
have samba server & client setup with the same workgroup names. But
smb:// doesn't see any workgroups. Also the printer isn't seen by the
laptop.I looked at NFS, but that seems a bit overkill..

Right now I just want the simplest way, and when I have more time I'll
dig deeper. Any help would be appreciated..

Running a firewall, perchance?

How so? It's far simpler than Samba, and unlike Samba, is designed for
Unix-to-Unix filesharing.

NFS, and kill the firewalls on the internal machines.
