REAL slow backups from Exchange Server

I have a brand new mail server running Server 2003 and Exchange Server
2003. All mail services are funtioning perfectly including OWA.

When I try and backup the information store (only about 3GB) across the
network using BackupExec 10d, the job takes more than 2 days. The only
device between my backup server and the mail server is a 100mb switch
which appears to be functioning perfectly. Uploads *to* the mail server
using MS FIle sharing are running nice and quick (>200kb/s). Moving
files *from* the exchange server to anywhere else on my network are
VERY slow (<1kb/s).

I certain the problem is not with the switch, as downloading large
files (500MB) using OWA works fast. It's a brand new install with
basically all of the defaults set. Any ideas what might be throttling
my outbound connections?

It turns out that this question was answered in another post, although
under different circumstances. I knew my NIC and switch were set to
auto-select link speed, but I figured it couldn't hurt to try forcing
100Mb/full-duplex. And sure enough, it massively improved network
speeds. I guess there's a problem with the auto-negotiate.
