We have a NT domain server we'd like to retire and use samba instead. Any
recommendations on a good how-to for moving the NT domain over to samba?

Thanks!

Yes: Go to www.samba.org. They provide excellent documentation, and for
a project like Yours, I think it's a must-read.

When after that You have more specific questions or problems, check back
here.

Cheers, Jack.

My personal reading of the string "MicroSoft" expands to "NanoWeak"...

Just downloaded a fresh set of samba docs, myself, this afternoon.

Save yourself lots of trouble and just download the whole set --
they're in .bz2 format, converted mine to .tgz ;-)

Bookmark the site and get the docs here:
Separate doc downloads--the html link doesn't work yet, but the .pdf's
do have toc.
http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/Samb...Collection.pdf
http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/Samba-Guide.pdf

This one includes everything -- Dev guide, Samba-3 by Example, The
Official Samba-3 HOWTO and Reference Guide, Using Samba, 2nd Edition
(O'Reilly book), HOWTO Collection, man pages, etc. -- most in html and
..pdf
http://samba.org/~samba-bugs/docs/sa...latest.tar.bz2

You want to check out CH 30 in the Official Samba-3 HOWTO:
"Migration from NT4 PDC to Samba-3 PDC"

Other setups described also.

hth,
