Okay I have a similar setup. I have a cable modem then a router. I
wanted to put access in the basement, 2 floors away, and the D-Link
people told me to buy 2 access points and connect them as a bridge. In
your diagram you connect one to the router and one to the hub. Just
make sure you don't plug either into an "uplink" port or they will not
work!! I also configured mine from the router, connected one, set it
up, and then disconnected it and setup the other one. As a bridge
setup it asked for the MAC address of the other one. It took a bit of
plugging and unplugging but it all works great now!
I have a Wireless Router that has 4 plug in ports and thought I could
get away with just one AP but no such luck. I used the same SSID and
Channel on the bridge as the Wireless Router, don't know if I should
have, but it works.

Setting two APs to bridge mode doesn't allow any other computer to access
the AP wirelessly. It just fill the gap between the router and hub. Is your
router wireless? If so, I wonder if the AP connecting to your hub can
communicate with the wireless router in bridge mode. What I want is to fill
the gap, and also other portable computers can communicate wirelessly. I
have already had a SMC Barricade 7004 AWBR wireless router. Not sure the
right device for the other end. A bridge will do the work, however, the
bridge made by SMC is too expensive ($250). I don't know if other brands
(Netgear or D-Link $85) will work with SMC routers.

Typically router/wireless combo units do not let you establish bridges.

I went to e-bay and bought two Linksys WAP11's...which I plan to setup as a
bridge to connect to buildings 50ft apart.

No you cannot setup an AP to connect to a wireless router in bridge
mode. As I said, D-Link answered all my questions, thru email, but
they did respond, and this was the only way.
And no mixing brands is not a good idea because they tend to be
proprietary. Some do work but not most.
