Buying add-ons for the S2 and using it as a modem seems to me to be much
better value than using a mobile broadband SIM in a dongle. When I bought my
dongle, it came with 12GB of data, valid for 12 months. Top-ups beyond that
are £10 per month, and provide 1GB of data.
However, with an add-on on the S2, you get a month's worth for only £5 and -
based what others have said - you seem to get at least 2GB of data - so it's
4 times better value.
I would assume that with a week's worth for £2.50, you would get at least
500MB of data - but I haven't tested it.
Father Christmas brought me an S2 which I topped up for £10 - and the
freebies run out on 25th March. I've *still* got £10.22 worth (don't ask!)
of credit and 596 texts *and* I've still got about 20MB of my original 150MB
of data left. I've just been away from home for a week, and used it quite a
lot in that time - albeit subject to crap speeds which severely limit the
amount of data you can use! I was rather hoping the data would run out so
that I could try an add-on - but it didn't!
Incidentally, since the free stuff which you get by topping up is used
*before* the add-on, there's absolutely no point in buying an add-on before
you need to - because the clock will start ticking even if you're still
using the free stuff. In a worst-case scenario, if your free 150MB lasts for
more than a week after buying your £2.50 add-on, the add-on will be
completely wasted.
