Combining DECT and VoIP is a great is a great idea. What would make this a
"killer application" is if we could us DECTs built in roaming capabilities.
(The DECT radio interface is in fact quite similar to GSM with roaming
enabled.)

The problem is the totally useless piece of POTS connection in the
installation:
VoIP > router > POTS > base-station > DECT > handset

The idea is to leave the POTS out all together and connect the base station
directly to the Internet with an Ethernet-connection. Some more on this idea
on my web pages:

That's exactly what British Telecom is working on, DECT / GSM 'Bluephone'
which will seamlessly switch to your landline as you walk though your house
door.

But I would rather have WiFi VoIP phone, that would use GSM if nothing else
is available.
Samsung has a prototype.

Martin

Such a gadget exists: the Olympia Dualphone, costing £80 (http://www.i-
fones.co.uk/). It's only for Skype and Windows 2000/2003 Server/XP.

Although sold in the UK, it appears not yet to have been approved for
use here.

It's not even a close, it's Skype ONLY and connects to computer via USB,
i.e. the computer has to be ON !

For £80 you can get VoIP ATA adapter, plug it in to your router, use any
std. SIP provider, plug in any phone, including DECT.
Don't even have to have a computer, except for setup.
Regards,
Martin

Look for the Sipura SPA-1001 on eBay. For about £50-£60 you get a single-
line FXS adapter which has two separate SIP "lines". Alternatively the SPA-
2000 which has two completely separate lines (two phone sockets). From my
experience with both of these, the call quality is excellent. I have a DECT
phone plugged into one of these and it works very well.
