You don't mention which browser you're using, but it sort of sounds
like your browser has cached the wrong password. Delete the saved
password from the browser and try again.

If it truly happens while you're downloading something, then it's
referring to your PC's memory. Such a message would be unusual, but
it's probably easy to check. Which OS are you using? Instead, if it
happens after you have finished the download and you're trying to
update the router, then it's referring to the router memory. In that
case, you're probably trying to update with the wrong file.

I don't think so.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with IE since it's been quite a few years
since I last used it. I know Firefox, for example, allows you to
delete selected passwords, or all at once.

Do you end up on this page?
http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2723

If so, I assume you're clicking on one of the two big yellow download
buttons? Either of those is less than 1 megabyte in size, so if you're
running out of memory during that download it might indicate that
you're downloading to a drive or partition that has no space to store
the file. In that case, it's not your PC's memory that's insufficient,
but rather the storage location you've chosen.

And yes, either of those is simply a download, not a router update.
You'll need to download the proper update file, then log into your
router and access the feature that lets you update the router
software. It should ask for the file you've downloaded, so you'll tell
the router where it is, and the router upgrade will begin. Be sure you
do upgrades over a wired connection to reduce the risk of bricking the
router.

Not _that_ wireless connection (which is your wide area network, WAN
connection to your ISP's gateway server). The advice was simply to make
sure the PC the router was collecting its update file from was connected
via a cabled LAN port (CAT5 ethernet) connection rather than via a
wireless LAN connection.

Here is one possible router setting that may affect disconnects provided
they are occurring while your browser is sitting idle.

If your ISP connection is using PPPoE and they require a login password
check your "Idle Timeout" value. This is also known as a "keep alive"
setting for this router. If it is set to a non-zero value then it will
disconnect from your ISP after the value given. Set it to zero and the
router is supposed to keep the connection open all the time.

Some cheap ISP's set this to drop the connection after a time period so they
can sell more users access to their system then it's actually capable of
handling full time.

Trry supportrix.com. It was highly recommended by my friends and I have tried it twice. I had excellent results. They are available 24/7 and they will get to the root of the problem and give you a solution.
