Re - no logon servers available

If I understand what you are trying to do correctly, one work around will be
to log onto your laptop with a local account rather than a domain account.
Then when you try to connect to the clients shared folder you will be given
a username/password prompt. This eliminates your domain and any need for
trust relationships. You will however need a valid account to use from the
client domain access the share.
