Hello...

I have a BT line coming into my house, but I am no longer a BT
customer, the line is not disconnected just deactivated (if that makes
sense) and It can be reactivated by BT in 48 hours.

Do BT require a reactivation to be part of a 12 month contract?

I would like to sign up with another telephone and broadband supplier
via this line (possibly Tiscali or TalkTalk) but if it involves paying
BT as well as one of these other suppliers then any package they offer
will not look too attractive, especially if they offer line rental as
part of their contract.

Am I stuck with Virgin for ever and a day?

Well NTL - Virgin has been quite good these last few years... but it
is more the cost that I am looking at, and a bill for £90 one month
during the summer has forced me to look at reductions!

Personnaly I've used Ntl cable - no other ntl service - and its been no
problem in 4 years
Sometimes working on other peoples ntl, who have a connection via set top
box, I find a real pain
My neighboor has had talktalk for 6 months, its never worked, she still uses
dial up

I believe that may well be the case. Can't say it surprises me nor does it sound
unfair.

Consider yourself lucky in that case to have been saved the misery of Talk
Talk's broadband.

Do people EVER bother to check these company's performance before rubbing their
hands in glee at the thought of getting something on the cheap ?

I trialled Virgin Media's cable offering a couple of months back and it was
rubbish.

So there.

I've never thought Talk Talk to be particularly cheap ...

Yes talktalk have a poor reputation.... confirmed by 3 weeks of
inactivity in progressing my order. They ae now off the list.

I quite fancy a BT line rental and one of the packages Orange have on
offer, especially if I move over to their mobile service as well. Its
rubbing my hands in despair at the cost of Virgin that has prompted an
investigation into alternatives.

Not just broadband... but telephone as well.

Who is your service provider for broadband and telephone?

Oh Dear !

Yet another crap ISP. Stop looking for cheap 'deals'. You get what you pay for.
