Had one here for a while now. It works extremely well most of the time
but there is something in the encapsulation that makes it drop
connection with my ISP's server (Demon) from time to time. The ADSL
stays rock solid but it disconnects and reconnects to the server several
times a day. It is back on in seconds and it really isn't a big problem
but neither Billion nor Demon seem to be able to find out why it does
it. Billion helpdesk are very responsive and they came up with a new
software load which fixed a few early problems. No problem with Skype or
SIP protocols.

? in what way is it ever connected to an ISP's SERVERS?

I don't understand what on earth you are talking about. What ISP server?

So you are not loosing sync, but instead are loosing the 'connection' to
what you feel is a 'server'/'internet' at your ISP yes?

There are several possibilities. First off, does the Billion 5200 use the
AR7 chipset? Do you have any audible bursts of noise on the line at all?

Please ignore the poster/troll here known as Natural Philosopher. He is
an argumentative, know fuck all retard. Last week it was shown how little
he knew about Linux architecture and he went quite for a while. Add him
to your filter/killfile if you don't want to see his bollocks output.

I see spelling isn't your strong point.

He's about to take you on a wild goose chase and bend the whole thread
to the one thing he thinks he knows about broadband.

I see you have morphed out of my killfile again.

As confirmed by Demon. The connection remains synced to the DSLAM, the
backhaul is fine but something happens at the ISP.

I would have to check which chipset but I think it is Trendchip. I don't
have any audible bursts at all.
As I said in my original reply it isn't a problem more a curiosity. For
all but a few seconds in the day I get a steady 10MB/s upload.

That's a demon problem then.

Unlikely to be anything to do with the router per se.

Sure it is. Let's call up Demon and have them change the DSLAM to match
the chipset in the router......

Any more helpful advice, wanker?
