Hi;

I just don't get why the internal interface in my RAS server exist, it has
its own LAN ip address also. If I create a rule on my firewall to point the
PPTP service to my RAS ip address, I get connected but can't browse the
network. If I point the firewall rule to the internal interface ip address, I
get connected and also be able to browse the network. However I can make the
internal interface IP address static, next time when it updates itself, it
gets a new IP address form DHCP that makes the connectivity to break down ->
I hace to create a new rule again. The RAS server is not a DC, I use it as a
print and FTP server also.
Please help me how I can get around this issue.

Thank you,

The internal interface exists because that is the interface which the
remote users connect to. It gets its IP address from the pool of addresses
allocated to remote use. This pool is leased from DHCP if you leave that
option set. (You do not need to do it that way. You can set up your own
static pool of addresses).

You probably need to disable Netbios over TCP/IP on the internal
interface so that you do not have two IP addresses linked to the server's
Netbios name. That is probably what is causing your browsing problems.

Disabling Netbios over TCP/IP in RRAS requires a registry chainge. See
the section near the end of KB 292822.
