I have a Netgear Wireless Access Point with just 1 antenna.

What is a typical outdoor line-of-sight range for a router like this?

I use a dlink 624 and have gotten a signal 125' away but the signal was down
to 37%
The router is inside the house. You can increase distance by adding a better
antenna.
You can add and outside antenna.

That would depend on the antenna!

I put mine in the celler so it only makes it just beyond the front door.
Works great in the house. I drive around with my laptop on all the time and
there are a lot of routers that are making it out onto the street.

I get very good signal in another building 75m away at acute angle trough
two sets of leaded double glazed windows. But that is with a quality router
/ card or USB adapters, not Netgear.
Regards,
Martin

What quality card are you using that picks up a "very good" signal 75m away.

I use Draytek Vigor 2600We router positioned by a window and Orinoco silver
USB adapter placed 5' high on a sideboard to be directly in line with the
router via window. I also have Vigor 520 PC Card which works well when
placed on the sideboard, but not on my desk.
Regards,
Martin
