Radio Shack rubber duck antennas

any other real world comments
on the pair of 5.5dbi rubber duck antennas
offered by Radio Shack for $29 -
I've seen them listed online & in the newspaper,
but have not seen them hanging in the store -

I'm afraid that the little itty-bitty cable on that antenna wipes out most
of the gain of the antenna. I have one, and there has only been one
occasion where I was able to see a WAP with it that I couldn't see without
it, and I couldn't connect on that occasion. Using Netstumbler, there is
no observable difference when the antenna is connected to my Orinoco card.

That problem wouldn't exist with the duck that attaches directly to the
WAP/Client/whatever.
