Hello,
I have a couple of questions pertaining to Linux networking:
A.
I have two Linux based routers A and B, both of which are wireless. I
want to know if
it is possible for router A to have IP 192.168.0.50 and router B to
have IP 192.168.0.60
with netmask 255.255.255.0 on both routers, that is, can two wireless
routers share
the same network, just like this is possible for computers connected
via wires?
I want some laptops to connect to router A and others to router B and
would
like all the laptops to be on the same network.
B.
In case the above is not possible, what should I do? Configure A and B
as AP
routers as well as bridges, and assign say router A IP 192.168.3.50
and router
B IP 192.168.4.50?
C.
What protocol do wireless laptops use to connect to Access Points? I
know with
ethernet the protocol which is often used is called DHCP, but I don't
think DHCP
is used for wireless computers to retrieve their own IP. What is the
name of the
protocol wireless computers use to obtain an IP from a wireless
router?
D.
If A and B must be configured as bridges, how do I make them shake
hands?
What's the protocol? Does it use MAC addresses like DHCP does?
Thanks,
John Goche
