Questions Connecting a Network Printer

Hello Anyone,

I would like to add a network printer to a client computer so that any
user who logs in to that computer has access to it, preferrably keeping
it as the default printer for that computer. All of our client
computers run Windows 2000 Pro.

When I add a printer to a computer it appears to add it to the profile
of whichever user is logged in. Other users logged in don't see that
printer unless they add it also. That means that I have to go through
the Add Printer Wizard for every single user who may want to use that
computer. That's a lot of work! Also, a user's default printer is the
same where ever he or she logs in, even if they log in in the next
building. That means that we have a lot of print jobs that are wasted
because they go to a distant printer. Is it possible to make the
default printer for a computer be a property of the computer, rather
than a property of the user? If this is not possible, can anyone
confirm that for me?

Thank you in advance,

To define the printers that are available to a client computer regardless of
who is logged in at that computer.

See tip 2014 in the 'Tips & Tricks' at http://www.jsiinc.com

So, you are using roaming profiles?

robbie>Is it possible to make the default printer for a computer be a

Don't use roaming profiles then.
