Hi Everyone,

I have Intel Ethernet adapter which supports 802.1Q VLAN. I have used the
utility from Intel to create, modify and configure the VLAN on adapter. I
can specify the VLAN ID using Intel utility.

Does windows server 2003 has any support to create , Configure or modify the
VLAN? Does windows has any OID, which i can explore to achieve the same
thing.

How can i retrieve the VLAN ID and VLAN name from the Virtual adapter in
windows? I want to route my network packets through specific interface. But
i can not get the details about the virtual adapter, i.e. VLAN ID, VLAN Name
etc. GetAdapterInfo() function only retrieves the information about the
adapter. It does not retrieve any information about VLAN.

Thanks in Advance

Rajesh

Yes.

No.

You can't.

You'll have to combine Static and Dynamic VLANs at the same switch port. The
switch port will have to handle the 802.1q NIC via the Dynamic VLAN aspect
and at the same time accepting traffic from the Virtual Adapter and whatever
subnet it is "statically" part of.

For example if the physical NIC is VLAN-1 using "tagging" and the Virtual
Adapter is in VLAN-2 "statically", then the Switch Port will have to be set
to be "statically" on VLAN-2 while also being on VLAN-1 "dynamically".
Switch Ports can be on multiple VLANs at the same time, but only one can be
"static" and others have to be "tagged".

Thanks Philip
Thanks a lot for your reply. I was studing the General OID from Windows. If
i can not retrieve the VLAN ID, what does OID_GEN_VLAN_ID does? I know its
optional, if NIC support this OID, do u think i can retrieve the VLAN ID.
Thanks
Rajesh
