Question about "One or more wireless networks avaiable"

Dear all:

I am using a D-link DI-614+ for home networking. I have a IBM laptop
with a built-in wireless card. There used to be no problem. Recently
the laptop frequently drops off internet and the Windows XP shows a
message like "One or more wireless networks are avaiable. Click here
to see them." Then I have to click and select to connect to my
wireless access point. After that I can get online, but in a few
minutes I have to do this again.

Can someone please help me to fix this problem? I can actually see a
few wireless access stations in the list. I guess they belong to my
neighbors.

Thanks a lot.

Rich

sounds like its getting a better signal from somebody else. Mine does
this jumping between two wireless networks but both are mine.

One solution is to specify the SSID of the network you wish to use
rather than leaving it with ANY or whatever's in the settings now.

Another approach is turning on WEP and using a key in the AP and the
wireless network card settings, that way it should only connect to the
network with the key.

It sounds like it could be interference from a neighboring Wireless
Access Point or Wireless Adapter. Check out the channel numbers that
are in use by the other networks you can see, then set the channel of
your own network to a channel-number as far as possible away from the
other networks.
