Sorry to post this question. I have DHCPCD running fine now on the linux
box. It wasn't getting an IP due to some misunderstanding I had with the
Cox tech support. I thought I was informed by them that my account
entitled me to two public ips, reinforced by the fact I actually had two
computers set up this way from cox. However this was very unstable. I'm
actually only allowed one ip. When one of their tech support people told
me I could have two, I guess he meant one of them would be an internal ip.
