Hi

I have to move part of an office to a new location, with this it's going to
go almost all our infraestructure, due to the rest of our office will remain
for a short period of time i have to set up something for them to keep
working.

My idea is to set an additional Domain Controller and then in the last day
start and restore our dhcp server on it.

It's my understanding that this additional domain controller would be able
to serve authentication for this users for 60 days without replicate against
the principal domain controller, you know the one with the roles.

It's a good approach?

Thanks in advance

Hello mosquito_hippy,

Without replication between the DC's your users will get problems when moving
to the new location. For example if they changed there password on the old
location it will not work anymore on the new one. Also if you have to create
new objects on the old location it's the same.

Additional the new DC has to be DNS server and should also be Global catalog
server.

So better create a VPN connection between the offices to replicate the DC's
for that short time.

Best regards
