A workgroup is a configuration where every computer maintains its own
security database (list of user accounts.) Its good for small networks. No
centralized administration. NT Workstation, 2000 Pro and XP Pro have a
maximum of 10 concurrent connections.
With a domain configuration, there is one security database on the domain
controller. Users can access resources anywhere with their centralized
logon.
