I am wondering if someone can suggest to me a good network monitor program
that can run on a Windows 2000 Server and log the external internet usage
for

each internal PC. We have one server connected to the internet, and all
internal PCs go through the server. It would be good to know which PC is
using the

most out of the internet, as well as what he/she is doing... (maybe).

I have googled and there are so many programs but a lot of them are for
unix. A free program for Windows would help.
Any ideas?

Any proxy server or something like websense can do this for you. I heard
that squid can run on windows, but it would be easier to use a VM Virtual
Appliance. I'm sure someone has built one for a proxy. They are typically
free, but Linux based (licensing).

Yes - I have just asked this same question somewhere else, and got a
perfect answer:

NTop Xtra

You can get it here:

http://www.openxtra.co.uk/downloads/ntop-download.php

It looks a little complicated, but gives you EVERYTHING you need, it's
GNU but has been ported to Windows, so it's FREE!

Enjoy.

Dst.

Greetings,
If you need a more enterprise level solutions I would recommend Websense (as
mentioned before), or Surf Control.

Hope this helps,
