QoS problem on Vigor Router

Hi;

I've got a Vigor 2900VG router. It has two telephone sockets on the
back for VOIP. I set them up, really easy; and have so far made four
VOIP calls. Two worked perfectly, on for ages, very clear etc; and the
other two have both cut off after 20 seconds.

I suspect the Quality of Service set up, but apart from ticking the box
that says "Enable QoS"; the rest of the screen is an apparent
nightmare. I can reserve bandwidth for up to four classes of outgoing
packets. When I click on the "basic setup" button, I get a list of
possible classes I might want to reserve like: FINGER(TCP:79) and
H.323(TCP:1720); but although it's a VOIP page, nothing that says "SIP"
or "VOIP"; and I have no idea how to make certain I retain 25% of my
available up-bandwidth for VOIP calls.

Can anyone help me? Please????

Thanks;

Tim

Try the Draytek support forums at:

http://www.forum.draytek.co.uk/index.php

as there is a much higher chance of other 2900 VOIP users being found there.

Click enable QoS.
Click Basic. Add RTP and SIP.
Return and click Advance'.
Set rule 1 to Active / any / any / any / service type RTP
Rule 2 ditto for SIP
Return.
Select BOTH directions.
Class name: SIP , reserve bandwidth 70%.
HTH

Martin

Thanks both; I'll register with the forums which I hadn't come across;
and if I can work out what Martin's post means, I'll do that too :-)

It's the blithe "Add RTP and SIP" bit I like; but I'll gie it a go.

You wouldn't be with sipgate by any chance would you?

If so, the cutoff may be nothing to with your router...

It's just selecting types of traffic you want to prioritise from a list.
It will be IMHO obvious when you see the web page ;-)
