I have installed a RIS server and have a DHCP server running now with a few
IP's for it. I have th server ruuning and when I go to boot from PXE (from
the network card) it starts to boot from there but than gives me this error.
'No DHCP or ProxyDHCP offers made"
Any ideas?
Thanks

Actually I got the DHCP to work I think. My media was bad. but now the next
step it is saying "no boot filename received" I created the RIS and it
created the shared file and boot folder I think. I created it using the
instructions from the same link you sent me.
Any ideas?

also and it said something about reinstalling it from a RDP cd if if it
wasn't there. How do I get option 60?

Hello,

check that you followed this way:
How To Set Up and Configure Remote Installation Services in Windows 2000
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/298750/en-us

Else uninstall and install again following this step by step. You may found
other more detailed tutorial through search engine.

Actually according to the microsoft article you sent those options should not
be configured if the server is the same as the DHCP server. So those options
were not configured on mine wich is right as the RIS is the same server as
DHCP.
This is the article I used to install. Do you what files should be in the
remote install folder?
Also I found this in the instructions "
RIS supports only the remote installation of Windows 2000 Professional. "

I am tring to install server2003 is this a problem?

About W2K3, the main problem is that you can only build one partition.

I wouldn't use RIS for servers, but the new WIM image (require SP2 to
upgrade RIS)

I do have service pak2 on the server I am using. I have no other choice to
load this server as it is a NAS server from IOMEGA and it has no cdrom or USB
port or Floppy But I should be able to load it this way right?

WIM is just a new format for delivering OS. It can be deployed through the
network as RIS, but the image server must be running W2K3 SP2 to be able to
deliver in wim format.
