The purpose of this newsgroup ?

I was wondering what the purpose of this newsgroup was, I
see no support questions answered and endless issues
posted. As a un-lucky owner of a Mn-700 disconecting from
the internet after port scans, and only about 1000 other
complaints you would think Microsoft could at least reply
to some posts or offer advice. Yet post after post, no
replies.

Pathetic for a company as large as Microsoft not to offer
decent support, even their email support doesn't work.

This newsgroup is supported by volunteer peer efforts. If you wish
Microsoft to pay attention, call the support number in your User's Guide.
As volunteers, we try to answer most of the posts.

Chris,

I wouldn't expect a company the size of Microoft to rely
on volunteers for support. My apologies to yourself and
others who take the time to do such things, just
extremely frustrated with internet disconnects with this
MN-700 when port scans occur from PTP programs. Then
spend an hour reinstalling the base station as it is
locked up.

The peer-to-peer support is what the public newsgroups are for, and always
have been. 8-) Just like the old bulletin boards were years ago in the
infancy of the Internet.

If you're running certain software like that, then you're probably creating
your own private denial of service attack on yourself, and that's what is
causing the problem.

Not sure if I am, port forwarded ports needed for
connection of PTP program and also on software firewall.
Connection is fine as I get no NAT errors, plus the base
station locks up even when not using PTP, all lights are
on yet no internet, last thing logged is port scans on
base station log files. I can remove the cable modem
connection and go direct to the PC and the internet is
live.

I'd contact the support section is available for the specific for the
specific program. And make darn sure your anti-virus is current and runs
often.

Hello Frustrated, I am also experiencing these
disconnects. MS doesn't seem to have a fix for this
random disconnection issue as of yet and because 2 years
hasn't been up yet and I haven't used my support options
either, I've decided to ask to claim for my warranty.
Maybe you should try that and that goes for others as
well.

It is a disappointment. MS is a big brand name and a
hardware issue like this does frustrate me.
