Hi guys,

I have a terminal server with a licensing server setup as well on the
same server. I haven't purchased any licenses yet. Its been 3 months
since I've had the server in operation. I was just wondering how I
could tell when the licenses expire, and when the users will no longer
be able to access the server.

Thanks,
Mike

You should buy the license before the users have the problem to logon. To check the license status, open Terminal Services Licensing udder administrative tools.

Yes, I understand that much. I guess what I'm not sure about is the
expiry date. I can see all devices with the expiry dates for the
temporary licenses. What happens when I approach the expiry date? Will
the license renew for 60 days or something, or will that be the time
that a TS CAL is required?

Thanks,
Cyp.

So say an expiry date approaches for one of the devices. Will just that
device loose connectivity, or will all of them?

If I remember correctly, the existing devices in the TS licensing will be allowed for another 7 days while the new connection will be denied.

Okay...

I have a computer that is using a temporary license assigned from the
Licensing Server. It is said to be expired on December 5th. So on the
12th I won't be able to access the Terminal Server?

Thanks,
Mike.

Today is the 12th, and I can still remote desktop into the Terminal
Server. When won't I have access?

Is this a 2000 or 2003 TS server? If it's 2000 then you don't need TS
cals for 2k or xp. If 2003 it will expire.

This is a 2003 TS. I'm confident that the temporary CALS issued will
expire. According to the Terminal Services Licencing tool, some of the
device's CALS are already expired. I'm just trying to figure out when
my devices won't be able to access the TS Server! Any ideas?
