I know that if I set up a wifi router at home, and every PC attached
to it (via ethernet or wifi)
- has a share enabled on its hard drive(s), and
- has file and printer sharing enabled under Network Properties, and
- has Netbios over TCP/IP either enabled or enabled via DHCP, and
- (if XP) has not got various things disabled in the XP firewall
then they can all see each other and, if XP, they all have Guest
privileges on each other.
However a lot of people DO have their laptops set up as above -
especially if running win2000 or earlier and most certainly if they
run the laptop on a home wifi network also. What stops one seeing the
others when on a public access point?
I know one sometimes can see other machines on a public wifi AP. How
can this be stopped (from the AP itself)?
Peter.
