Actually, I decided to take a chance and found one on eBay. If you remove
the metal cover (held on by 3 solder points) you will find an Atheros
mini-pci card inserted in the PCI holder and can be easily removed. The
mini-pci card has 2 u.fl-r-smt (can be purchased from DigiKey) connectors as
the antenna terminals, after reading the chipset data from Atheros, the
radio has a diversity circuit build-in, hence the dual antenna terminals.
Anyway I've managed to get the card installed in my a20p via the mini-pci
interface. In addition I've replaced the a31p antenna with a T40 antenna,
which to my surprise was considerably better (30 to 40 % improvement in
receive level). No more taking the PCMCIA card in and out as I transport the
laptop.
Thanks,
John
