I am trying to find a website that indicates which ISP's
offer a news server, without having to look through several
pages on each providers site, or information listing
the few providers with a decent news server.
Looking for an ISP that takes quarterly payments,
in advance, by cheque, with a 5GB (or even better
unlimited download useage) with no traffic shaping,
and adequate backhaul bandwidth.
I think Nildram give a Giganews feed, but they
went downhill when Pipex got involved. Zen have their
in-house (reinventing the wheel) server, with a few
rough edges.
You can buy in access, but being part of a
package is more convenient, and may not involve
choosing from basic, premium or Platinum, news
packages, and specific limits.

You do not need to buy access. I am considering changing to a cheaper ISP
that does not have a news server and am trying out news,albasani.net which
is free. So far very impressed. Three months or so retention and new
groups (non binary) being added all the time. You need to register to use
it.
