To access a file in a protected folder on Apache/Linux platform, user
name and password are required.

Question: is the password encrypted during transmission in this case ?

Thanks.

I am not too sure of how to use https.

Can I create a protected folder in https folder and place the file
there ?

Thanks.

A: Because it destroys the logical flow of a thread of comments,
and makes it difficult to keep up with a conversation.

Q: Why do so many people object to top posting?

A: Writing your reply to a message above what you are referring to
rather than below it.

Q: What is "top posting"?

It's for internet use; I think there is no need for very high security
protection; it not meant to protect against govermental organizations.

I created a protected directory. Browser prompts for name and password
when I try view the file via a browser.

Later I selected SSL option for the folder, a folder with the same
name was created in the "https" folder.

I shall put a file there and try to view it. I think a dialog will pop-
up saying there is old digital certificate (plesk), and then name and
paswword. I shall try it may be half an hour later.

Thanks.
